The 12 Biggest New York Marks From New Balance Nationals This Year

Keep It Kicking For The Mile

Who: Isaiah Claiborne (Northport)

What Place:  4th in Championship Mile

Why: It was a long weekend for Isaiah Claiborne.  He had already run 1:52.79 in the 4x800m, a day after leading off his DMR in 3:01.69.  And yet, on Day 3, when it came time for his only individual race of the weekend, he delivered there as well.  As is typical, the Mile became tactical, the Long Island senior tucked himself into the pack.  When the pack broke loose, Claiborne used all the energy he had left, and held on for a 4th place finish.

Finishing in 4:10.96, he is now the third fastest Long Island Miler of All-Time (Indoors) and also NY #11 All-Time.  However, he is just short of his school record, set by Tim McGowan at 4:10.28 in 2014.  There is always Outdoors to improve.
