Grinding Along
What Place: 2nd Place in 2 Mile Championship
Why: It's a hard place to be, chasing after Katelyn Tuohy. But still, Kelsey Chmiel never let go of the gas pedal in the Girls 2-Mile final, even after running in the DMR earlier in the weekend. Chmiel was incredibly consistent, keeping the gap between her and Tuohy within 6-seconds. Any time Tuoyh began to pull away, Chmiel could respond, and keep her within sight.
Closing even more with three laps to go, Chmiel would bring the gap down to about 4-seconds, where it would stay for the remainder of the race. The Saratoga Junior would cross the line in 10:02.36, good for US #7 All-Time, and NY #4 All-Time. The 3000m split would also bring her a 9:21.11 best for the 3000m, also #7 All-Time.
