The 12 Biggest New York Marks From New Balance Nationals This Year

Katelyn Tuohy Split's 4:38 For The Anchor Leg

Who: Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland)

What Place: 1st Place in the Championship DMR

Why: Tuohy may have had three historic performances this weekend, but the anchor split on the DMR has to be the most impressive.  Not only did she separate herself from a pack of very capable runners, she also ran to one of the fastest 1600m marks of All-Time, relay leg or otherwise. To clear her of any danger, Tuohy was required to run an FAT split of 4:38.62, more than seven seconds faster than any other anchor leg.  It brought North Rockland to a NY #11 All-Time performance, and a Gold Medal.

The only leg faster in history was that of Kate Murphy (Lake Braddock) who ran an unofficial 4:37, when her team set the Current National Record of 11:34.54 at the VA Showcase in 2016.
