The 12 Biggest New York Marks From New Balance Nationals This Year

The Revolution Continues

Who: Alana Carroll (Averill Park) & Kaeli Thompson (Warwick), & Liliana Cohen (Benjamin Cardozo)

What Place: 3rd and 5th Place In the Championship Pole Vault, 5th in the Emerging Elite Pole Vault

Why: Two weeks back, we discussed the revolutionizing of the Pole Vault in New York this year.  With New Balance Nationals now in the books, the girls of the Empire State improved on what already was a breakout year for the event.  New York took 3rd and 5th overall in the Championship division.  Alana Carroll, who  had jumped 13-6 at States, came through with another 13-foot jump to take third, based on misses.

For Kaeli Thompson (Warwick), the junior finally took hold of that Section 9 Record, clearing 13-2.25 for the first time.  It now makes her the third girls over 13-2 this year.

Also of note, in the EE Pole Vault, Lily Cohen of Cardozo, shattered the PSAL Record in the Pole Vault, hitting 12-6.5 as only a sophomore.  With another sophomore over 12-9 at States this year, this event looks loaded for years to come.
