New York Girls State XC Rankings - Week 2

The Trailer:  Half of the top eight teams were in action, with Saratoga, Niskayuna, Monroe-Woodbury, and Baldwinsville all picking up wins and no changes among the top octet. All hell broke loose below them though, mainly due to the Bowdoin Varsity 2 race that turned into a cemetery for team speed ratings. Corning was the especially problematic team, as it followed up a very strong performance at Wayne Pre-States with a far less lustrous day at Bowdoin. Since the conditions at Bowdoin affected so many teams there adversely, we've tried to retain the tried-and-true philosophy that a season is rated on many meets and not just the last wreck of a weekend. The rankings therefore do not necessarily reflect the placements in Bowdoin-2 at the 5th to 7th place positions where teams were at 146-146-147. Bethlehem put up a great perfomance at Queensbury to make a big leap up into the top 10. The McQuaid meet on Saturday will provide a lot more information on how the teams stack up.
