Sachem East (NY) High senior racewalk star Lauren Harris captured another national record on Saturday, this time going 6:22.96 at the St. Anthony's Invitational to set a new all-time mark in the outdoor 1500m racewalk.
A year ago at this same meet, Harris dropped a time of 6:32.49, which was No. 3 all-time.
In January, Harris shattered the indoor 1500m record by over 11 seconds when she went 6:17.59 indoors at the Ocean Breeze Invitational to become the fastest indoor high school racewalker of all-time. She followed that performance up in March at New Balance Nationals Indoor with a national title in the 1-mile racewalk with a time of 6:53.44
The Marist College signee is the returning New Balance Nationals Outdoor champion, where she posted a time of 6:52.23 in 2016.
MileSplit New York will post video tomorrow of Harris' record setting venture on the track.
