Marine Corps Classic

Invitational entries are available at MileSplit NY

Some top PA individuals will hit the Armory once again this season for the Marine Corps Classic, a meet that traditionally produces plenty of PA#1s. Here's what we're watching for:

GIRLS: In the 300 meters, which will feature mid-distance star Sammy Watson from NY, Cheltenham's Bria Barnes and Springside Chestnut Hill's Alexandria Kitchell will also be in the field. Watson will also contest the 800 meters. Penn Wood's Terri Turner, who's had a great start to her senior season will look to challenge her. Springfield (Montco)'s Sydni Stovall and Cheltenham's Alexis Crosby (moving up from her speciality, the 400m) are also in the half mile.

Yasmin Brooks, who's had a very busy winter to this point is entered in a number of events: the 55-meter hurdles, the 200 meters and the 4x200. She'll look to build on her PA#1 in the hurdles. Barnes and Crosby are also entered in the 200 meters.

Norristown is bringing a fleet, headlined by Jayana Webb. Webb will be one to watch in the 55-meter dash, as well as the relays. In the 4x200, we'll see the PA#1s, Norristown, matchup with Cheltenham and Susquehanna Township to try and take down the state-leading time.

In the mile, there's a long list list of PA entries. They'll be chasing VA's Rachel MacArthur and NY's Sam Peterman. Downingtown West's Emma Planck, Friends' Central's Emily Burd, Cheltenham's MaryGrace Rittler, and Abington's Kelly Jawork are among the top PA runners in the field. While Anna Juul's state-leading 4:52 may be out of reach, that sub-5 barrier will be on their minds.

BOYS: In the 800 meters, Penn Wood's Dennis Manyeah (who went US#1 at this meet last year) is in the field along with some other PA talent, including Penn Trafford's Nick Wagner, Seneca's Donovan Myers, Downingtown West's Chase Semanyk, and Cheltenham's Andrew Crosby.

In the 4x800-meter relay, Abington will look to run a PA#1 in what should be a competitive race.

Springfield (Delco)'s Joseph Cardie, Cheltenham's Will Griffen, Germantown Academy's Owen Ritz, and Seneca's Phoenix Myers, among others are entered in the boys' mile.

In the shot put, the top seeded PA boys is Southern Lehigh's Andrew Rochon. Rochon will also be in the weight throw, where the top seed is the favorite, Matt Slagus of North Pocono. Slagus has a PR of 66-9.25 in the event. Matt Ludlow of Pennridge is will contest the long jump and the triple jump. Look out for his teammate Matt Moyer in the high jump.
