New York College Runners Go for 2016 Nationals

NCAA D1 - Regionals Wrap-up

Women

Summary:  Ten (plus 1) NY alumni earned tickets to Nationals last Saturday either as at-large runners or as members of qualifying teams. 3rd ranked Providence again provided the biggest bounty for the NY tally as Abbey Wheeler, Katie Lembo, and Keelin Hollowood helped the Friars turn back Harvard in the Northeast regional. But Yale earned an at large bid, and that put Meredith Rizzo and Emily Waligurski on the plane to Terra Haute. Columbia's Henna Rustami and Stony Brook's Christina Melian also had big performances at the Northeast to earn at-large bids with top 10 places. Bella Burda continued her sparkling college career as she was the third Hoya in at the Mid Atlantic regional to help her team capture an automatic bid. And out in the West regional with six teams earning selections to Nationals, Oregon senior Samantha Nadel and Washington freshman Kaitlin Neal both had big roles in their team's success.

Note:  Sage Hurta (Colorado + Hamilton) can be added to the list as we have received very inside information that she will running with the Buffalo varsity on Saturday.
