Shoreham-Wading River junior Katherine Lee has been on a roll as of late. After clocking a course record at Goddard Park, RI earlier this month, she has improved her standing on the Sunken Meadow All-Time list from #27 AT, to now #12. Lee won the Divisionals Championship race in a time of 18:17.36. Although the Sunken Meadow course has received a few revisions over the past decade, it remains one of the hardest courses in the State to crack the Top 50 All-Time. Many of the marks come from when the course hosted Foot Locker Regionals, as VCP was under repair.
Katherine Lee's season has been a steady increase. During the summer, Lee underwent surgery for an inguinal hernia. Her pre-season mileage was slowly slipping away in recovery, but the delayed start seems to have only benefited her. Lee is one of the highest Speed Rated athletes in the state, making her one of the favorites for a Fed Meet Title. Behind her, the Shoreham team is seeing improvements. With Speed Ratings coming later today, it looks as if their fifth runner has crested the 100pt range, making them a challenger for team titles to come at the State Level.
