Lanae-Tava Thomas Surpasses All-Conditions State Long Jump Record

The Summer Season is well into effect, and just like Spring, Rush-Henrietta is highlighting the news.  While Sammy Watson will be heading over to Poland to contend for a World U-20 Title, teammate Lanae-Tava Thomas is fighting a little closer to home.

At the Penfield Summer Series #4, Thomas captured a mark she had been flirting with all Spring.  The sophomore hit 21-3 in the pit, which is an All-Conditions National Leader.  The mark was timed by YenTiming, which employs FAT for the track, but does not carry wind-readers for the field events.  As such, the mark will not count as a New York State Record, although Thomas still has two more years to go.

The mark now stands as the second best All-Conditions mark in NYS history.  Keyon Soley has a wind-aided 21-6.75 to claim the All-Conditions best, while Jennifer Clayton is the only other athlete ever over 21ft in New York.  State Records, both class and overall, count towards the current grade of the athlete, and only roll over on August 25th, or until they physically move to their college campus in the case of seniors.
