| The race went out strong, led by Kelsey Chmiel through the early laps. But as the 3000m fatigue set in, Katelyn Tuohy and Sammy Watson moved to the front. Proving that Watson is not a kicker only, she spent much of the race in control, albeit challenged with Tuohy on her should. Sage Hurta stalked the leaders as well, moving up through the crowd. With 300m to go, Watson began to turn on the afterburners, but 8th Grade Tuohy wouldn't give in. She held on to Watson for as long as she could, but then the Rush-Henrietta Junior began to gap the field in the final 50m to win. Hurta would take third, capturing D2. | |||||
