We saw it last year, and 2016 seems to be no different. Sam Affolder and Noah Tindale are both ripping through the class records in New York State. And when one sets a record, the other responds with their own. While Affolder grabbed the Steeple Record (video here) last week, Noah Tindale (Guilderland) takes home the 1600m record this week.
Tindale led from the gun, pulling the pace out hard. Only out of the lead for a few meters at 1200m, Tindale surged at 400m, pulling along Maazin Ahmed (Schenectady). The pair came even with 100m to go, with Tindale getting the lean at the line.
The mark was a significant personal best for Ahmed as well, who is only sophomore, closing in on the Soph State Record of 4:13.49, albeit for the full mile. The race now makes both athletes NY #5 & #6 respectively. Full Results below.
