State of the Action

Indoor Nationals were breakout races for our top two entrants.  Jessica Drop put down a big performance in the seeded heat to grab 4:46.57, while Sage Hurta did just as much in the unseeded Section.  Hurta did so off little training (her team does not field an Indoor program), and has been looking race ready as of late.  Drop has the wheels to take the race out hard, strong over 1000m as well.  There are plenty of stories to go around, as Maegan Doody isn't traveling all the way from New Hampshire to resign herself before the race begins.  Her seed is no joke in the middle of spring, and could prove to be what it takes.  Kristie Schoffield is coming from the same state, and the boys 3200m from last year shows what can happen to seeds times from New England, when placed in the right race.

Some interesting off-shoots would be Katelyn Tuohy's pursuit of the 8th grade state record (and the win).  She set the 7th Grade State Record in the race last year, and will be chasing 4:50 this year, set by Nicole Blood.  Kaitlyn Ryan is coming off strong marks in the 800m, to forego the event for the longer distance.  Kamryn McIntosh is doing much the same, one of the few girls in New York with credentials similar to Watson.  McIntosh missed most of the Indoor Season, so her mile effort will be interesting to watch.
