Boys 400m Hurdles
Red Raider Relays Three athletes under 55seconds in the same 400m Hurdle race is impressive enough. But when one of them, Ronaldo Griffiths, ran 52.38 as a sophomore (and 52.61 as a frosh), now you have our attention. Griffiths is your top entrant, but both David Adams (Beacon) and Chima Ezeillo (North Rockland) are
also around 54.5. The pair will push the pace, and force Griffiths to a
strong performance, if he wants to take home a title.
Girls 1600m/3200m
Red Raider RelaysIt was hard to choose between the two fields, as both were loaded, with many repeat entrants. For the 1600m, you have Alex Harris against Mary Hennelly and Kam McIntosh. By personal best, McIntosh is the favorite, but is still returning to fitness. Both Hennelly and Harris had big indoor campaigns, and are capable of going further under 5mins. Julia Stevenson and Reilly Seibert just add to the intrigue, as both are capable of the sub5 pace as well.
As for the 3200m, you see Hennelly entered again, joined by Harris' teammate Katelyn Tuohy. Hennelly will have her teammate Rachel Ludwikowski in the race for company, while Katie Munks, Caroline Pennacchio, and Mary Borkoski will be added to the mix.
Both races are equally as stacked, and we expect the personal bests to be dropping left and right as the gun goes off.
Boys Long Jump
His only individual event, this will be Rayvon Grey's
outdoor Long Jump debut. After you clear 26-0 indoors, anytime you
step up to the runway will be a potential highlight. With Penn Relays
on the horizon, who knows what Grey can do outdoors. Of course, it will
only count with a legal wind gauge present, but regardless, it's time
to soar, outdoors.
Girls Hurdles
Paula Salmon
is the defending New York State Champion, as well as the only returning
New York Athlete under 14secs for the full 100m Hurdles. She'll open
her season here against Avianna Goode,
NY's #6 returner, with improvements galore indoors. The two will head
off for the first time, a matchup sure to repeat itself at States later
in the season.
Boys 1600m
Red Raider Relays With five athletes under the 4:20 mark, this race could be quick. Ryan Kutch and Chris Langer will go in as a duo, both hailing from Saint Anthony's, while Kevin Hazelwood and Mike Delfay will do the same for Brewster. The lone entity will be Jon Gay,
all the way from the North Country of NYS. The boys from Brewster may
lead on the rankings from Indoors, but Kutch and Langer both took down
the State Record for 4xMile Indoors. The team tactics will come into
play, giving each an extra edge on the line.
