Cortland, NY - While much of the focus was on NXN this weekend, several indoor meets began to get underway. For some, there was a blend of XC and Indoor, as Jessica Lawson still awaits her trip to Foot Locker Nationals this week, earned through her runner-up performance one week prior.
While fellow Section 4 Standout Abbey Wheeler was taking 10th overall out in Portland, Lawson was making some marks of her own. While the SUNY Cortland track is anything but conducive to fast marks, Lawson dropped a 4:39.61 in the 1500m at the Section 4 Age Group Meet.
Not only is the mark now US #1 in 2016, it would have been good enough for NY #6 last year at the end of the season, just ahead of Bella Burda (Arlington). The mark is wholly indicative of the shape Lawson is in, approaching Foot Locker Nationals.
