NSIC Press Release: 20 More Athletes Committ to come to NY

With the National Scholastic Indoor Championship less than a month away, the NSIC staff announced in a press release that twenty more elite prep athletes have committed to their event, which takes place March 14-16, 2008 in New York City.  This announcement certainly helps build momentum towards what should be a fantastic weekend.

The 25th anniversary of the National Scholastic Indoor Championship will be held at the New Balance Track & Field Center March 14-16, 2008.

Athletes that will be competing at the 2008 NSIC:

- Nyosha Bryant (NC): Currently ranked #2 at 200m (24.32), a member of West Charlotte's nationally ranked relays, North Carolina State Champion at 55m and 300m.

- Lauren Chambers (GA): Currently ranked #1 in the weight throw, 2008 Simplot Games Champion.

- Omar Craddock (TX): Currently ranked #2 in the triple jump, AAU National Champion in the triple jump with a personal best of 49-09.00.

- Bernard Goodwyn (DE): The #2 returning 400m runner (46.68), 2007 AAU 400m National Champion.

- T.J. Graham (NC): 2008 North Carolina State Champion at 55m and 300m.

- Max Kaulbach (PA): Currently ranked #2 in the two-mile (9:14.10).

- Corey Leslie (OH): 2007 Ohio State Cross Country Champion, with personal best of 4:09.47 in the mile.

- Conor McCullough (CA): #1 returning athlete in the hammer throw, owns the freshman and sophomore national record in the 12 lb. hammer throw.

- Cory McGee (MS): 2006 National Scholastic Indoor Champion in the one-mile, 2007 Foot Locker finalist, three-time cross country state champion, Mississippi State Champion at 800m, 1600m and 3200m, with a personal best of 4:48.07 in the one-mile.

- Candyce McGrone (IN): #1 returning 100m runner (11.29) and #3 returning 200m runner (23.24).

- Rynell Parson (TX): U.S. Junior National Champion, represented the United States at the 2007 Pan American Junior Championships.  Sophomore national record in the 100m and 200m.

- Dominick Roberts (CO): Currently ranked #1 at 400m (47.98), Colorado State Champion in the 200m & 400m, with personal bests of 21.14 and 46.80.

- Nadonnia Rodriques (NY): Currently ranked #1 at 400m and 300m (52.85/38.73), has a personal best of 1:30.83 in the 600m, and is a member of Boys & Girls H.S. nationally ranked relays.

- Robert Simmons (TX): The #1 returning 400m runner with a PR of 46.40, represented the United States at the 2007 Pan American Junior Championships.

- Vashti Thomas (CA): Currently ranked #1 in the triple jump and #2 in the long jump, top returning 100m hurdler, currently ranked #2 in the 55m and 60m hurdles.

- Shaquille Tubman (TX): 2007 Junior Olympic Champion in the 200m (20.91).

- Nick Vena (NJ): Current freshman national record holder in the shot put, 63-02.75.

- Nico Weiler (CA): Currently ranked #1 in the U.S., returning 2007 NSIC champion, Simplot Games champion, World Youth Pole Vault champion (representing Germany).

- Charles White (CO): 2007 National Scholastic Indoor Champion in the one mile, 2006 and 2007 Millrose Games qualifier.

- Wes Wright (GA): Currently ranked #1 in the weight throw, sophomore record holder in the 16 lb. hammer and the freshman weight throw national record holder, 2008 Simplot Games Champion.
