State of the Action: The state had left a bitter taste in the mouth of John Jay-Cross River
athletes of the past. Two years ago, despite going on to become the
Federation Meet Champions, they were denied a trip to States based on a
tie-breaker against Pearl River. A year later, the team took runner up
to Pearl River once again, as they once again looked to the future.
Well, consider that all part of the journey to 2015, where a revitalized
squad saw the inclusion of sibling to fill in the gaps, and grab their
first ever trip to the State Meet. Once there, they had a career best
performance from all athletes, to solidify the closest competition at
the State Meet, winning a Class B title. Not only that, they would go
on to place 3rd overall in the merge, only behind US #1 Fayetteville and
US #2 Saratoga. Shoreham-Wading River and Burnt Hills were as close to the winners as predicted, and round out the Top 3. |
