State of the Action: It is rare that the State Meet can be viewed as a rust-buster for any athlete, but for Noah Affolder,
who hasn't had to put in a full effort since he shattered the McQuaid
course record, then took down the field at Manhattan the week after,
States served as the restart for championship season. Citing the cold
weather as a factor, Affolder remained undefeated, and joined the States
elite by cracking 16mins, surpassing his own previous course record.
Behind him, Nathan Lawler was continuing a string of breakout races, closing very strong the second half, overtaking the back pack leader Dan Schaffer. Eion Nohilly and Paul Dellinger were both also very close, rounding out the top pack. |
