2015 Cross Country Sectional Championship Previews

Section 8 Girls

Class A

Position Team TR Top Runners
1 Syosset 112.0 Siebert, Destefani, Esswein, White, Go, Zaidi, Beovich
2 Port Washington 96.4 Kogan, Hurt, Jester, Chavarria, Crowley

Fast Runners: Reilly Siebert (S) 138, Grace Moore (Calhoun) 119, Maria Kogan (PW) 116, Samantha Destefani (S) 112, Melissa Esswein (S) 11, Taylor Rettig (Massapequa) 111, Lucy Hurt (PW) 111, Lauren White (S) 104, Kayla Beovich (S) 100, Carisaa Kahn (Manhasset) 95, Tracy Go (S) 92

Summary: Syosset goes for its 4th straight sectional title and should get it and then try to move up on its 7th place States finish last year. The big question here is whether the team will decide to cross the finish line altogether like last year at Sectionals. Syosset sophomore Reilly Siebert will be favored over last year's champ, Grace Moore of Calhoun.

Summary: North Shore goes for its 9th visit to States in the last 10 years, the one exception being the 2012 year of Sandy and the interesting qualification decision. The Vikings should win again, though Manhasset is strong enough this year to make a challenge. NS senior Diana Vizza is the favorite for the win, but Daniela LoCastro should be close behind.

1 Oyster Bay 65.2 McNamara,Pace, Rutigliano, Leandrou, Angelone

Fast Runners: Camilia Yee (Wheatley) 90, Maggie McNamara (OB) 88
