Section: 2 | Class: B | Colors: Maroon and white
Emily Digman (no.256) and Eva Scott (no. 261) were Burnt Hills' frontrunners in the mud at Canton last year as they led the Spartans to the state championship.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Burnt Hills lost more than half of its champion States squad to graduation, but the top trio of Emily Digman, Eva Scott, and Lily Digman are back. Though not as deep as last year, the Spartans still have more 100+ TR runners than any other Class B team, and they will be favored to hold off a challenge from Queensbury in S2-B and go for their 5th States title in 10 years.
Shoreham-Wading River | Wildcats

Shoreham-Wading River's Alexandra Hays (no. 1158) teamed with Kaitlyn Ohrtman (peering over Ohrtman's left shoulder) to give the Wildcat's two more top 20 finishes in the team scoring behind States champ Katherine Lee to help lead them to a top 4 finish.

Last Year's Summary: 4th in States B, 1st in Sectionals B
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A team with a rich past that includes a long ago States title, SWR had faded back since a run of States appearances in the mid 2000's. Last year the Wildcats came back with a vengeance as freshman frontrunner Katherine Lee held off all challengers to win the States title and the young team finished 4th. Now with the top 6 back from last year, and Alexandra Hays, Kaitlyn Ohrtman, and Francesca Lilly providing a potent punch behind Lee, SWR appears set to win the S11-B crown again and then maybe challenge for a States title if a little more depth can be found.

Last Year's Summary: 14th in NXN-NY, 2nd in Sectionals B
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
After winning at home at States in 2013, Queensbury fell back a ways last year, though Alexis Bartlett won a States medal as a freshman. A generally young squad returns this year but still with four members of the States champs two years ago, and if all the Spartans can either get or stay healthy (Danielle Soprano's situation will need to be watched), the Q might have enough depth to catch Burnt Hills in S2-B.
North Shore | Vikings | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Section: 11 | Class: B | Colors: Maroon and white

Last Year's Summary: 3rd in States B, 1st in Sectionals B
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Despite the loss of Stacie Nadel from last year's 3rd place States squad, North Shore could be the sleeper pick at Monroe-Woodbury this year to regain the title it last held in 2011. Stephanie Bazan, Morgan Nerud, and Diana Vizza are all back as seniors to give the team a lot of power at the top. And on a team that always seems to feature at least one "little sis of a legend" runner putting up big numbers on her own, there is a pack of freshmen waiting in the wings with a name or so that indicates there could be some promising developments at the back of the Vikings' crew.
Pearl River | Pirates | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Section: 1 | Class: B | Colors: Royal blue and white (plus red)
Like States winner Katherine Lee who won a medal the year before as an 8th grader, Pearl River's Mary Borkoski captured a medal last year and led her team to a 5th place finish. This year she will be the freshman frontrunner for the Pirates.

Last Year's Summary: 5th in States B, 1st in Sectionals B
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
As usual, Pearl River will be the deepest team in S1-B, and Mary Borkoski appears set to give Pearl River the powerful presence at the top that Kelly Hayes provided in recent times. The big question now is whether the Pirates can have enough of the corps of 100+ TR runners behind Borkoski to transition to a level where the team can challenge for the state title it last won 16 years ago.

This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
If JJ-CR can find one more pair of sisters whose last name begins with N to beef up the squad, it might challenge for a state title. Two years after winning the Federation crown, the Indians are again hoping that they can find the depth to challenge the always big Pearl River legions in S1-B, but with freshman Pippa Nuttall joining senior sister Gemma and the Nohilly twins Brooke and Kathryn, JJ-CR looks ready to be a bit dangerous again.

|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In 2014 HFL went a second straight year without a sectional title for the first time since they began making trips to States in 1995 and chalking up 7 straight crowns there from 1998 to 2004. After two years as the runner-up, the Cougars will again be the favorite in S5-B with a full squad back from last season headed by States runner sophomore Payton Reed and senior Sydney McDaniel.
Westhill-Bishop Ludden | Warriors
Section: 3 | Class: B | Colors: Royal blue and white

Last Year's Summary: 11th at NXN-NY, 4th in States C, 1st in Sectionals C
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The move back up to Class B with Westhill and Bishop Ludden again merged will present stronger competition again for the Warriors, though last year's Class C was very strong and the team did well to finish 4th at States. The top runners are all back including States medalists Genny Corcoran and Maddie Nowicki, and Alaina Kenny joins them to complete a top trio that is among the best in Class B. With a little more depth, Westhill could finish among the top 5 in the state.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Departed is a storied Dragon trio of Beatrice Boylan, Ashley Wallace, and a Dara Cuffe doing her big sis proud with a 3rd at States. For the first time in years, Cornwall looks a little vulnerable in its sectional race, but unless a rising Goshen team sees significant more development, the the Dragons should retain the S9-B title with Hannah Mellino and Zoe Scileppi leading at the top.

This Year's Outlook | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
West Seneca West drops down to Class B this year after finishing 3rd in S6-A last year. This might not mean a lot for the team's prospects except that longtime S6-B powerhouse East Aurora dropped down to Class C in 2014 and last year's champ Sweet Home suffered big graduation losses. The Indians return everyone from last year including frontrunners freshman Anna Rybczynski and senior Shania Livecchi, and that may just be enough to get them their first sectional title.
