Excelling indoors, Kaitlyn Ryan has maintained her fitness during the transition to spring. They came through the 400m at 64seconds, with a steady chase pack that included top challenger Anna Jurew. Jurew left a little bit too much for the end, and couldn't catch Ryan, who had kicked away from the field down the straightaway. Her marks now stands as NY #1, and even more impressive, would have placed Top 5 based on last years rankings.

With a ticket to the Dream Mile on the line, this race went out quickly. Lucy Biles didn't fly across the country for nothing, pushing the pace in the early laps, with Crystal Ortiz throwing in surges behind her. Ortiz would exchange the lead through the mid-sections of the race, but the effort caused her to fade off the lead. That left Biles, and Eliza Rego, would battle over the last 300m shoulder to shoulder. However, it would be Biles to grab the auto slot, looking for a higher finish than last year's 10th.

Known more for the mile indoors, Julia Stevenson's fitness over the longer distance had yet to be realized. It was the pressure put on by 8th grade Paris Fenoff that would be the motivator on race day, as both pushed each other to big personal bests, and NY #2 and #3.
