It may have been MIkey Brannigan's second event in as many days, he threw down a full second personal best in the 800m to take home the state leader in the event. His 1:53.46 outlasted strong challeges from a late kicking Stae Champ Luke Germanokos of Lynbrook, who took second right behind.

Consider Benito Muniz (Carmel) back in action. Unhappy with the slow pace, Jack Jibb of Monore-Woodbury kicked away from the field with 400m to go. Muniz responded with tactical precision, eventually overcoming the move, and pulling away on the homestretch, to take the title in 4:19.29.

It was clear Mikey Brannigan (Northport) was on a mission from the gun one week out from his race at Penn Relays. At 1600m, he had an 80m gap on a quality field, consistenlty throwing in surges, despite racing in the dark (literally) of where the rest of the field was. He took down teammate Jack McGowan's meet record with his 9:03.82.
