Names New And Old Break Out At Red Raider Relays

Girls Distance

800m

Highlights
Before Friday, only two girls in the state had broken 2:20 for 800m. That stat would go out the window, as several athletes looking to kickstart their season made a push. Freshmen Reilly Seibert of Syosset took on the best of Rockland schools in chasing her NY #4 win in 2:15.39, more than a 10-second personal best for her in the open event.

1600m

Highlights
You can't call her just a sprinter. Kamryn McIntosh of Suffern, National Record holder in the 600m indoors, and National Champion in the 400m, showed her range. Not only is she on her teams XC Squad, she also is able to break 5 minutes in the 1600m, moving to the front of the pack at the halfway mark, pulling away from the field to cross in 4:58.34. The race may have been a good leadup to Penn Relays, where she'll be on the DMR, a relay she led off at Indoor Nationals on the 1200m leg.

3200m

Highlights
North Rockland's brightest future shone through the night sky, after a delay pushed the 3200m under the lights (or should we say light). But this race was almost not run by the 7th Grade Katelyn Tuohy. There was concern she would have to run modified, as many programs in NY have it as a requirement for those school with dual tiered programs. Luckily, the School Board saw reason, and Tuohy took out the race hard. Her finishing mark of 10:49.36 for 3200m converts to 10:53.13 for 2-Miles, which is just off Nicole Blood's (Saratoga) 7th grade state record of 10:53.05.
