What to Watch: Indoor Track Meets 1/17

Arkansas High School Invitational (AR)

The Arkansas High School Invitational may be the top meet in the southeast this weekend, as many event winners from the Texas A&M High School Indoor Classic will travel to the home of the Razorbacks.

Identical twin pole vaulters Lexi & Tori Weeks are at the top of performers to watch, as the Razorback commits are currently tied for US #1 in the pole vault with 14-0.5 clearances.

US #1 60m hurdler Tonea Marshall enters the meet with an 8.53 clocked en route to winning the College Station meet last weekend. She'll have her hands full with club teammate Samantha Gonzalez, a US #5 performer. Gonzalez will return in the open 400m, where she could also make a dent against top relay performer Danyel White (Cedar Hill) and Paris Perkins (Hughes).

Jaevin Reed, US #2 24.49 200m, will go after the nation's fastest time in the one-lap event. Gabrielle Jennings (First Baptist, LA) will travel all the way from Louisiana to go after a US top-10 time in the girls 3k.

In the boys sprints, watch for Norman Grimes (US #13 60H), Chris Ntreh (60m), D'Undre Mitchell (400m). The nation's fastest returner over 800m, Terrell Jackson, will debut. Can he crack his 1:53 indoor best?
