State of the Action: A false start cleared the field in the final, but it didn't mean the outcome was decided. Carnell Noble matched his time from the semi's, just edging out the competition, to win his second State Championship gold medal.

State of the Action: Quite possibly the most impressive performance of the day, Rai Benjamin, at 6'2", galloped around the turns in a very impressive fashion, winning the race off the backstretch, with a new US #3, and what surely could have been a state record on a banked track. For Cornell, Benjamin will have to settle for only smashing the meet record set by Brian Smith in 2012.

State of the Action: You have to hand it to Matt Murray, he knows how to run at Cornell. Sitting in last through the laps, he sprinted to the front of the pack on the final lap, splitting the crowd across five lanes. The competition seeing the defending state champ start to move as he did last year, attempted to respond, but it was only Lynbrook's Luke Germanakos who still had the power left in his legs, taking home his first title in the 600m run.

State of the Action: It was an eery flashback to 2012, where Zavon Watkins threw down a winning time in the unseeded heat. Jay Navin of Saratoga, ran uncontested in the slow heat, hammering away at the clock, to win in 2:27.72, a tall order for the tight turns of Cornell. Seeing that mark forced Purdy's tactics to change, as he was now chasing a time. Helped by Mikey Brannigan, Purdy pushed to the line as fast as he could, in hopes of taking down the mark. Only when the scoreboard flashed his .63 would the victory be official.

State of the Action: Miscounted laps could very well have costed standout junior Luke Gavigan the race. Kicking one lap early tired the eventual winner, allowing James Burke to pass him with a lap to go. The two battled it out over the last lap, exchanging the lead half a dozen times, and breaking even with 50meters to go. Gavigan just edged out Burke to win the title.

State of the Action: It's tough to win the race from the front, as Tim McGowan knows. The unsung hero of last years outdoor 3200m, McGowan sat with his brother for much of the race, as Pat Tucker propelled the race forward, gradually putting down fast even splits the whole race. The pack took awhile to catch up to him and Tooker, but it was the fresh legs of McGowan that gave him the race, kicking home on the backstretch.

State of the Action: It's one thing to run your best at the State Champs, but its a whole other to PR by over .2 in the hurdles. The performance by Sidney Gibson pushed Jay Hebert more than expected, forcing a dive at the line to barely solidify the win. The pair are now US #6 and #7.
