Sportsmanship at its best: Rustay helps Shine finish Tim Fulton Nov 16, 2010

If you were watching the girls Class B race at The NYSPHSAA Championships, you may have seen one of the most inspiring scenes you could imagine.  Molly Shine of Pearl River was trudging down the home stretch looking like she was going to collapse at any moment.  Five yards from the finish line she did just that.  As she struggled to get up and find a way to finish, Kaylea Rustay of John F. Kennedy High School in Buffalo slowed down, stopped, and tried to help her up and accross the line.

The FM girls scored a perfect 15 points to win their 4th straight NYS Class AA title.  Shaker boys win 8-78 over Warwick.  North Shore girls pull upset win in Class A, first team from Nassau County to win a state title since 1992.

The more you look at the what could happen at New York State Championships Saturday in girls Class AA, the more you look at the rankings and the predictions, the more you look at how the race could play out on paper, it begs the question: Can Fayetteville-Manlius score a perfect 15 again?
