Wildcats Return to Action at New York Armory on Saturday Night Jan 14, 2011

The indoor track season will get into full swing for Villanova this Saturday night when the team competes in the first of two "College Saturday Night" meets at the New York Armory. There will be teams from 17 different schools competing in tomorrow night's meet, which will have field events beginning at 6 p.m. and running events starting at 6:30 p.m. This is the first meet for the Wildcats since they opened the season by hosting the Jack Pyrah Invitational last month.

Ellison and Sainvil Each Pick Up Wins at New York Armory Jan 16, 2011

Freshman Samuel Ellison (Dresher, Pa.) and senior Robert Sainvil (Bay Shore, N.Y.) each won their respective events and Villanova returned to action at the New York Armory in the first of two "College Saturday Night" competitions to be held this month. In tonight's meet the Wildcats added a number of BIG EAST qualifiers to their list for the season in addition to the two event victories. Villanova totaled 40 team points and was seventh out of 17 schools at the meet.

Women's Track and Field Routs Competition at Armory Jan 16, 2011

The UConn women's track and field team opened the 2011 indoor campaign in style, routing the competition at the Armory in the season's opening meet. UConn recorded 177 points, 52 ahead of second-place finisher and No. 11 ranked Villanova. Senior Trisha-Ann Hawthorne and junior Victoria Flowers each recorded two first-place finishes for Connecticut. UConn dominated the field events, taking first in the weight throw (Flowers), shot put (Flowers), long jump (Whitney Holder), triple jump (Natasha McLaren) and second in the high jump (McLaren).

Wildcats Notch Victories in Five Events at New York Armory on Saturday Night Jan 16, 2011

Four individuals and one relay team tallied first place finishes and Villanova returned to action at the New York Armory for the first of two "College Saturday Night" events to be held this month. In all, the Wildcats registered nine top-three finishes at the competition and were second out of 14 schools in the team standings with 125 points.
