2019 Rensselaer County Cross Country Championships

Date: Friday October 18th

Site: Grafton State Park

Attached please find the final information about the 2019 Rensselaer County Meet. Grafton will have the electricity and water on at the main park bathrooms at the beach.

Note: Race times have been moved up a bit from previous years.

Entries this year will be done on ny milesplit. Please make sure your roster is updated and entered by Wednesday 10/16. Questions: email Doug Hadley at or John Leonard (see above).

Please bring a check or a voucher payable to La Salle Institute with you on the day of the meet. Entry fees are as follows:

$125 Complete boys and girls teams

$70 Boys only or girls only

$40 Modified only

For those who would like to run the course before the meet date, I will be at Grafton with some of the La Salle team to rake and mark the course on Wednesday 10-16 at 3:30pm.

Course description:

The start is at the far end of the parking lot on the woods side. The course runs the length of the lot out the park road (stay to the right on grass or road). Take a right on the trail that leads to the Shaver Pond/Deerfield picnic area parking lot. Run along the right side of the lot (stay on the grass) and around the cone at the far end of the parking lot. Go up the short grass hill and take a right onto the trail ahead. Follow the trail back to the park road. Cross the park road and run up the entrance to the park office. Take a left around the cone, through the gate, and take a sharp left onto the Mill Pond/Second Pond road (dirt road). Follow to Second Pond and take a left through the gate, up the steep rocky hill, and back to the park road. Follow the road to the entrance for the Rabbit Run Picnic area. Take a right, follow through the parking lot, and take a left at the cone onto the trail directly opposite the picnic pavilion. This trail leads back to the parking lot.

Modified and freshmen go straight finishing 200 yards up the sidewalk just past the bathroom buildings.

Varsity and JV take a left and repeat the entire loop. After the second loop, they finish straight up the sidewalk like the modified and freshmen.

Awards Varsity medals 1-15, ribbons 16-40

JV, Frosh, Modified medals 1-10, ribbons 16-40

Team plaques 1-3 varsity, 1-2 all other races

Individual awards will be given out at the end of the chute.

Remember Varsity races are limited to 7 runners, all others unlimited.

Runners will wear a small tag that will be torn off as they finish. These will determine place, times, and scoring. No finish cards will be handed out.

6th man beaks all ties.

This is a carry in/ carry out facility. Please keep your area clean.

We will keep the date of this meet at 2 weeks before sectionals.

Race distances: frosh, modified 1.5 miles Varsity, JV 2.7 miles

Some of the course is on asphalt. Flats or short spikes are recommended.

A concession stand will be available and County Meet T-shirts will be on sale!
