In 1997, he withdrew from law practice to help companies and corporate law firms poach talented lawyers with lucrative personal and professional incentives who would in turn inflict maximum misery on one another. In 2013, without first consulting Doug, Coach Rick Rothman recommended Doug as his successor to the Principal at Spanish River High School. After goading and false promises from high school administration regarding moral and financial support, and after the realization that lucrative personal and professional incentives would not be forthcoming, Doug agreed to coach cross country at Spanish River in 2014. Navigating through the unknown without relevant experience as a rookie coach, Doug scratched and clawed his way to lead a competitive team for boys, but failed in his quest to do the same for the team for girls. Finally, a formidable freshman female emerged in 2016 and propelled the girls squad to fierce competitiveness and, since then, both teams have earned statewide respect under the fortuitous leadership of Doug Horn.

Ryan Raposo Head Coach, Florida National University Ryan Raposo was just recently named the Men's and Women's Cross Country Head Coach at Florida National University in Miami. This comes after a two year stint as an assistant coach at St. Thomas University where he helped create a brand new track & field program to quick success in the NAIA Sun Conference. Prior to collegiate coaching, he was a teacher and coach at John A. Ferguson High School. During his 13 years at Ferguson, he coached his squads to many championships and state level success highlighted by over 40 athletes who went on to compete in college and 9 athletes who became high school or college track & field / cross country coaches. Administratively, Raposo is actively involved with many youth athletic organizations relating to cross country and track & field, most notably as the Florida Athletic Coaches Association state rankings representative and senior all-star selection coordinator. Between his various endeavors and through working as a meet timer, he has been a meet director / helped host more than 200 track & field / cross country / road race events. Coaching background aside, he is probably best known in Florida for using his "Raposo Wheel" to measure various XC courses to determine their legitimacy which contributes to his engaging banter on the flrunners discussion board. Ryan has a Masters degree in Sport Management (UF) with a specialization in Athlete Performance and Development, a Bachelors degree in Psychology (FIU), and he is USATF Level 1 certified and Level 2 certified in Endurance events, Sprints / Hurdles / Relays, and Jumps.

I tried to make my reservation and the lady that answered said the group was not open yet and transferred me to the individual that does the group rates. I was then sent to voicemail and did not get to make my reservation.

@Coach_Skipper Yes, the entire hotel is booked for all the June FACA Clinics, not just Cross Country. We are working to deal with overages now. Keep checking back with the hotel, as many people book more rooms than they actually need or don’t wind up coming, so there will be cancellations. On a side note (this is just me speaking, not the FACA)...I do see there are a couple of hotels next door to the venue. Maybe check them out! Holiday Shores Beach Club or Emerald Shores Hotel... Looking forward to a great clinic!
