Where are they now? - Tyree Meadows - Grain Valley 2011

Where did you continue your running career after high school?
I currently run Track for the United States Military Academy at West Point also know as Army

What was the biggest adjustment you had to make to compete at the college level?
Adjusting to the competiveness of a D1 program along with balancing track with all of my other activities and a significantly more difficult course load in the classroom

Is there anything you can tell high school athletes to better prepare them for the college experience?
Train hard and that’s both on and off the track. To be great on the next level it takes more than just being fast, you have to eat, sleep and think properly if you want to compete with the top athletes.

What memories from competing in high school stand out the most?

I’ll never forget the happiness I felt my junior year at the district cross-country meet when my team (Grain Valley High School) pulled an upset and got second and became the first xc team in our school history to make it to state.

What do you miss most about running in high school?
I miss my teammates and the memories we had together, I also miss the atmosphere of high school running when it was more about growing as an individual/team than just beating the other teams.

What piece of coaching or advice that someone gave you has been the biggest help?

Live a high school life, and career with no regrets. Every race and everyday make the most of it, because you only get one chance to build your work. You will make a work you’ll look back on and be proud of or you will make work that you will look back and want to make changes but regardless of what you do you will look back.

Very Respectfully,
