Morgan Uceny '07, Max King '02 in U.S. Olympic Trials Thursday Night

ITHACA, N.Y. – Morgan Uceny '07 and Max King '02 will have their chances to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore., on Thursday evening.

King, a steeplechase runner, is in the finals for the men's 3K steeplechase, which will take place at 9:30 p.m. eastern time. King advanced to the finals after a strong race on Monday evening in the semifinals. King who remains the Cornell record holder in the steeplechase 10 years later with a time of 8:40.12.

Uceny, the world's No. 1 runner in the 1500 in 2011, will attempt to reach London in that race when she competes in the prelims at 6:50 p.m. eastern. If she finishes in the top six of her 10-athlete heat, she will advance to Friday's semifinals, which will be held at 6:45 p.m. eastern. The finals will be contested at 7:23 p.m. eastern on Sunday. Uceny is still the Big Red's record holder in three indoor events and four outdoor events, including the indoor 500 and 800 and the outdoor 800.

Though Uceny's race will take place earlier in the evening, the NBC Sports Network will air delayed coverage of the trials at 9 p.m. eastern Thursday and running until 11 p.m.
