EUGENE, Ore. – Cornell rising junior Montez Blair put forth another outstanding effort at the United States Olympic Trials on Monday afternoon, finishing seventh in the men's high jump but failing to earn a berth in the London Olympic Games.

Clearing 7' 1/2” on his second attempt in rainy conditions, Blair finished up a year in which he earned second team All-American honors at both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships. Blair was unable to clear the day's second height, 7' 2 1/2”, but only nine of the 13 athletes who  took part in Monday's finals even cleared the first height.

Max King '02 also saw his first action of the trials, racing in the 3K steeplechase after several highly successful seasons as a championship ultra/trail/mountain/marathon runner and had amazing results.  The 24th of 24 runners on the pre-meet form charts, King placed seventh in the second preliminary round race, running 8:33.43 to earn a spot in Thursday's final.

After a four-year hiatus from the steeple, King is now within two seconds of his personal record, which he set back in 2007.

The next action for Cornell competitors is on Thursday as King will run in the steeplechase final and Morgan Uceny '07 will contest the first round of the women's 1500.
