Loucks Invitational Live Coverage

New York State - As championship season begins to ramp up, big times are begining to pop up on the state leaderboards.  Tonight will see a mix of upstate and downstate action starting to heat up, with a little section 9 love in-between.  Stay tuned tonight as we will be Live Tweeting from 3 meets, chronicling what may be some of the best times this year.  Downstate, all eyes are on the Loucks Games, as some of the states top competitiors look to post big performances.  If you haven't yet, be sure to check out our meet preview before the action kicks off today around 4:00pm.  As for upstate showdowns, the Oneida Invitational looks to be one of the last meets to bring in Section 3 sectional qualifying times, so you can expect some fast times.  As for the in-between, Warwick's notably fast track is hosting the Warwick Fast Friendship Games, which could produce some quick qualifiers as well.  Stay here for all the action.

Highlights so far

  • Mary Cain just went further into the record books with a huge 2:03.34 in the 800m run, splitting about 58 seconds through 400m.  The time puts her at US#10 All-Time and sets the NY state record for the event.  Alexis Panisse (Benjamin Cardozo) was 2nd with a quick 2:06.44.  Impressive in 3rd was frosh Emma Gallagher (Garden City) in 2:09.80 and Brianna Nerud (North Shore) 4th in 2:10.09.
  • Samantha Nadel (North Shore) just rolled in the 3200m with a time of 10:16.85!
  • Dan Lennon (Peru) won the boys 3200m run with a NY#1 clocking of 9:00.4.
  • Zavon Watkins (Liverpool) won the boys 800m run with a quick time of 1:50.78.
  • St. Benedict's Prep (NJ) rocked the DMR with a quick 10:08.92 clocking for the win.  Chariho (RI) was 2nd with an impressive time of 10:11.72.
