3/29/2012 12:45:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's and women's track teams spent the first two weekends of their outdoor seasons in sunny Southern California. Now they're back in Ithaca and ready to get to work locally in the Ithaca College Invitational this weekend on the south side of town.

The Saturday invitational begins at 10 a.m. with the men's hammer throw and the women's shot put on the field. Track events get started at 10:30 a.m. with the finals of the men's and women's 10,000-meter races. The competition concludes at 4:25 with the men's and women's 4x400 relays.

Last weekend in Irvine, Calif., the Big Red men's team won four events and had 22 qualifying times for the IC4A championships. Kinsley Ojuwku led the way for Cornell, winning the 200 and taking part in the first-place 4x100 relay. On the women's side, Cornell six event victories. Distance races were kind to the Big Red, as junior Katie Kellner claimed the 5000 title while classmate Genna Hartung won the 3000 steeplechase.

For this weekend's meet, most of the Big Red who competed in California will not be competing. Instead, the rest of the team will get into outdoor action for the first time.
