ITHACA, N.Y. – One week after placing second in a thrilling Heptagonal Championship at Barton Hall, the Cornell men's track and field team heads to another big event this weekend with the IC4A Championships.

Cornell has qualified nearly 45 athletes to compete at the Eastern Championships and will have one of the largest teams at the meet, which will be held at Boston University.

In last season's IC4A meet, the Big Red took 13th place among more than 80 schools. Senior Matt Da Silva finished the 3000-meter race in first place, while then-junior Dan Thomas won his heat in the 500. Cornell finished the competition with 22 points.

This year's meet will again be the last chance for any Big Red athletes to qualify for the indoor NCAA Championships with sufficiently low times. Montez Blair and Stephen Mozia are currently in the top 14 in the nation in the high jump and the shot put, respectively, and both are likely to qualify for NCAAs.

Athletes who place in the top eight in any event will earn All-East honors for the year.

The IC4A meet in the longest-running annual championship in America and was considered the national championship meet before the NCAA came into existence.

For most Cornellians, this will be the last race of their indoor seasons. The outdoor season begins on March 17 with a trip to Cal State Northridge.
