ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's and women's track teams will get their final tune-up before the Heptagonal Championships with the Deneault Invitational in Barton Hall this weekend.

Thirteen teams along with unattached and club runners will be competing against the Big Red on Saturday with track events getting started at 9:45 a.m. and field events kicking off at 10 a.m.

The Deneault Invitational is the final regular season meet in Barton Hall and is held annually in honor of Marc Deneault, who died tragically in a car accident in 1999.  Deneault was a top sprinter for the Big Red who had earned his sash by scoring at the Heps as a freshman. His twin brother, Richard, who was also a member of the team, and his family continue to support the meet by attending and providing T-shirts to event winners as well as "Meet MVPs" for both the men and the women on the track and in the field.

Teams competing against Cornell include intrastate rivals Buffalo, Cortland, Ithaca College, St. Lawrence and Utica along with teams from other states including Mansfield and East Strousburg.

The Cornell men's team had a successful outing last weekend when it won eight events at the Kane Invitational, also in Barton Hall. The Big Red women took home 11 event titles at the same meet while Alyssa O'Connor set an Ivy League record in the 1000 at Boston University on Friday night.

Next up for the Big Red will be in the Indoor Heptagonal Championships on Feb. 25-26. Cornell is hosting Indoor Heps for the first time since 2008.
