ITHACA, N.Y. – With the 2012 London Olympics just more than six months away, three former Cornell athletes are looking to earn a trip to England  this weekend.

The 2012 Olympic Trials Marathon will take place on Saturday in Houston, and  Cornell alums Max King '02, Sage Canaday '09 and Zach Hine '09 will be running in the race. All three won Heptagonal championships during their Big Red careers.

King, who owns a personal record of 2:15:34, recently won the 2011 mountain running world championship. He is putting his full efforts into the marathon now, though, and has reunited with former Cornell coach  Jerry Smith in preparation for the Olympic trials.

Canaday, with a personal record of 2:16:54, was the youngest person to compete in the 2008 Olympic Trials. As a veteran this year, he has racked up nearly 20,000 miles since the last Olympic Trials.

Hine, whose personal best is 2:16:54, was the second American to cross the finish line at the 2011 Boston Marathon. Hine has been training by himself in Massachusetts while working as a part-time community college instructor.
