Karolin Wagner Selected MAAC Performer of the Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - After her record-setting performance last Friday, Manhattan College freshman Karolin Wagner (Ribbesbuettel, Germany) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week.  Wagner established a new school mark in the pole vault at the Brother Jasper Invitational.

Wagner cleared 3.71 meters (12 feet, two inches) on her first attempt to break Jenna Daly's old record by one centimeter.  Daly set the previous mark of 3.70 m (12'1½) on Feb. 4, 2005.  Wagner's jump was the 24th-best in the NCAA this season and qualified her for the ECAC Championships.

She's the second Manhattan athlete in as many weeks to earn MAAC Performer of the Week honors.  Roman Ewald (Olching, Germany) was selected on the men's side last week.

The Jaspers are off until the New Year.  Manhattan's next competition is the NYC Gotham Cup at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center on Jan. 13.
