POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 5, 2011) - The Vassar College men's cross country team returned to the Vassar Farm Cross Country course one more time this fall in a Late Season Invitational with SUNY New Paltz. The 6,000m race was won by Vassar's Charles Wise in a time of 20:46. Freshman Wylie Barker was close behind in 20:53, and New Paltz's Doug Templeton represent the Hawks, finishing 5th in a time of 21:40.

The competition allowed a rare point to point comparison to view progress over the course of the season, as both teamsran the same course September 3 at the Vassar Invitational.

"It is great getting to see the progress the runners have made over the course of the season and their careers," said head coach McCowan. "Charles ran nearly a minutes faster than he did for the same course back in September. As a coach, there is no greater joy than seeing the student-athletes improve."

Both teams rested their top seven runners in preparation for next week's NCAA Atlantic Regional Meet, which will take place at Saint Lawrence University on Saturday, November 12.
