GAVLE, Sweden - At the Swedish National Championships over the weekend, former Manhattan College athletes Malin Marmbrandt and Malin Olsson both competed in the women's long jump. Marmbrandt placed fourth with a jump of 6.25 meters (20 feet, six inches), while Olsson was sixth with a leap of 6.10 m (20'0).
Marmbrandt, who was the 2010 Swedish National Champion in the triple jump, had the second-furthest jump of the qualifying round (6.09 m, 19'11¾). Olsson was third in qualifying, when she jumped 6.04 m (19'9¾). Marmbrandt then had her best career jump outside the United States in the final round to finish fourth.
The competition was won by 2004 Olympic heptathlon champion Carolina Kluft.
