RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College men's track & field team has been recognized for its success in the classroom by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Jaspers were one of 90 programs named Division I All-Academic Men's Track & Field Teams by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday.
To earn USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Manhattan was the only Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) school to receive the honor. Richmond (3.51) had the highest GPA in the nation, while Harvard and Duke both had team GPAs of 3.48.
As a team, Manhattan earned a total of 24 MAAC All-Academic selections during the 2010-11 season (11 indoor, 10 outdoor, 3 cross country). In addition, Albert Johnson III (Painted Post, N.Y.) and Tobias Lundgren (Alta, Sweden) were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team.
