Three Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Capital One Academic All-District men's and women's track & field/cross country teams were announced on Thursday, and three Manhattan College student-athletes were recognized for their work in the classroom.  Senior Jackie Hargrove (Vienna, Va.) was named to the women's squad, while juniors Albert Johnson III (Painted Post, N.Y.) and Tobias Lundgren (Alta, Sweden) were selected on the men's side.  All three now move on to the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America Team.

A psychology major, Hargrove received Academic All-District honors for the second time.  She was also selected in 2009.  A six-time MAAC All-Academic choice, Hargrove was a member of Manhattan's record-setting 4x400 meter relay squad at the 2011 MAAC Indoor Championships.  She also won a pair of gold medals (4x100 relay, 4x400 relay) at the 2011 MAAC Outdoor Championships.

The indoor school record-holder in the 200 meters, Johnson won the triple jump at the 2011 MAAC Indoor Championships.  He also finished third in both the long jump and triple jump at the MAAC Outdoor Championships this season.  A four-time MAAC All-Academic selection, he was named to the 2009 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

Lundgren represented Manhattan in the 10,000 meters at the 2011 IC4A Outdoor Championships, running a personal-best time of 31:29.05.  He won the 10,000 meters at the MAAC Outdoor Championships and set a meet record in the 5000 meters at the 2011 MAAC Indoor Championships.  In addition, Lundgren placed second in the University Division at the 2010 IC4A Cross Country Championships.  He has been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team four times.

The Academic All-District teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  In order to be eligible for CoSIDA recognition, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and have completed at least two semesters at their institution.
