PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Cornell women's track team placed an impressive fourth at the 2011 ECAC Championships at Princeton this past weekend. The Big Red had eight scoring performances en route to 33 points to finish only behind Duke, Connecticut and Virginia.

The meet began well on Friday in the distance races and in the throws. Sophomore Genna Hartung moved to #3 all-time at Cornell with a terrific third place finish of 10:29.41 in the women's 3000 steeplechase. Senior Maura Carroll (5th, 10:42.67) and freshman Rachel Sorna (6th, 10:44.11) also earned All-East honors. Senior Cassie Schweighofer closed out her Cornell career with a solid, sixth place effort of 151-9 in the discus.

On Saturday, the Big Red saw several qualifiers to Sunday's final. Sophomore Alyssa O'Connor ran 4:28.77 to advance in the 1500, junior Molly Glantz won her heat in the 400 hurdles in 59.31 to advance and the 4X400 of freshman Ebolutalese Airewele (56.2), junior Kelsey Reimnitz (55.6), senior co-captain Kim Standridge (56.0) and Glantz (54.6) ran a seasonal best 3:42.81 to advance.

The Big Red had a very good showing on Sunday to close out the meet. O'Connor set a big personal best of 4:24.28 (missing out on Cornell's top 10 all-time list by just .01) to place fourth in the 1500. Glantz placed sixth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 60.84. In a competitive 3000, sophomore Katie Kellner placed sixth with a five second personal best of 9:35.75; classmate Kelsey Karys was tenth in 9:43.40. The 4X400 of Airewele (56.3), Reimnitz (56.4), Standridge (56.9) and Glantz (56.5) ran 3:46.07 for sixth. And the Big Red moved into sole possession of fourth place in the meet's final event as senior co-captain Kim Lienhoop closed out her Cornell career in style with a fifth place showing in the high jump, equalling her personal best with a clearance of 5-7.

Although many Cornell athletes who had qualified stayed in Ithaca due to exams or to recover after last week's Heps, there were several other Cornellians who competed this weekend: Standridge (13th, 2:09.51) in the 800, junior Janel Parker (15th, 4:30.63) in the 1500, freshman Dale Kinney (16th, 10:18.26) in the 3000, sophomore Cara Costich (25th, 17:28.44) and senior Kristin Sellers (28th, 17:43.05) in the 5000, sophomore Ailish Hanly (15th, 5-4 1/2) in the high jump, junior Kristin Brandt (17th, 17-7 1/2) and freshman Anjelique Parnell (22nd, 16-9 1/4) in the long jump, Brandt (13th, 39-6) and Lienhoop (19th, 38-4 1/4) in the triple jump and sophomore Brittany Dombrowski in the javelin.
