Track & Field Finishes NEC Championships In 10th Place

– Wagner College's men's and women's track & field teams each finished in 10th place at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships held at Monmouth University. The host Hawks defended their 2010 championship as both the men's and women's teams claimed this year's title.

On the women's side, freshmen Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) and Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) each turned in impressive performances in today's 800 meter run and 1500 meter run, respectively. Kirk placed an impressive third, clocking in at 2:17.28 in the 800 while scoring six points. Bivona took ninth, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:54.41 in the 1500.

The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of sophomore Morgan Kaisershot (Elko, NV / Elko), junior Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY / Curtis), senior Danielle Diodati (Haverhill, MA / Central Catholic) and freshman Becca Valente (Grantham, NH / Lebanon) recorded a season-best time of 49.08 while finishing in eighth place.

Junior thrower Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH / Detroit Mercy) captured a sixth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 12.32 meters (40-5.00).

On the men's side, Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) and Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) competed in the 1500 meter finals after qualifying in the preliminaries yesterday. Zaccariello crossed the finish line in seventh place with a time of 4:00.75 followed by Iannacone in 11th place (4:04.59).

Junior Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood) finished the 5000 meter finals with a seventh place finish with a time of 15:15.70.
