Wagner Track & Field Competes At James Madison Invitational

– The Wagner College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the JMU Collegiate Invitational this weekend. The host Dukes of James Madison welcomed six other programs to the Harrisonburg, VA campus. Visiting teams from George Mason, Richmond, VCU, William and Mary and fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member Robert Morris joined the Seahawks at the two-day invitational.

The women's team competed in 15 events with all athletes finishing in the top 10. Highlighting the running events was Morgan Kaisershot (Elko, NV / Elko) who captured one of three first place finishes for the women's team in the 400 meter hurdles. Kaisershot squeaked by Robert Morris's Hillary Monger as the sophomore crossed the finish line two-tenths of a second ahead of her NEC rival in a time of 1:05.15.

Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) and Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY / MacArthur) finished third and fourth, respectively in the 800 meter run. Kirk clocked in at 2:20.53 while Balling followed behind with a time of 2:23.79.

Kirk, Balling and Kaisershot were joined by junior Francyna Evins (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) as the foursome took third in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:05.53.

In the field, Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH / Detroit Mercy) captured the other first place finishes for the Seahawks, finishing on top  in the shot put and hammer throw events. The junior tossed her way to the top, recording a best throw of 12.82 meters in the shot put and a measurement of 46.53 meters in the hammer throw. Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT / Brookfield) finished the hammer throw event in third place with a toss of 44.63.

Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA / Covina) finished placed second in the pole vault as the senior cleared the bar at 3.40 meters.

On the men's side, Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston) and Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY / Commack) finished the 800 meter run in second and third place, respectively. Abdillahi clocked in with a time of 2:00.12 while Macdonald trailed close behind, crossing the finish line in 2:00.81.

Junior Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) slipped in front of VCU's Tyler Simmons with a time of 4:00.17 to capture a second-place finish in the 1500 meter run. Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) and Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) finished fourth (4:01.30) and sixth (4:04.84) in the even t respectively.

Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood) and Matt Driscoll (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston) finished strong in he 3000 meter run with Spector clocking in at 8:59.98 for third place while Driscoll crossed the finish line sixth with a time of 9:17.82.

The Seahawks return to action on April 28-29 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA.
