Men's Track Posts Nine IC4A Qualifying Marks At Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Big Red men's track team had a very good showing on Day One of the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Friday in Lewisburg, Pa., producing nine IC4A qualifying efforts and a new addition to the all-time top 10 list in the 10K.

The performance of the day came late in the evening's program as senior Drew Hart had a 25-second personal best of 29:45.18 to place third and move to eighth all-time at Cornell. Four sophomores and a senior also bettered the IC4A standard in the 10K: Adam Trofa was 11th in 30:36.09, Matt McCullough was 12th in 30:47.43, Bobby Micikas was 13th in 30:50.45 and Brett Kelly was 14th in 30:50.51 while senior Steve Soprano had a big PR to palce 18th in 31:02.44. Senior Tom Shouler also set a personal best, runing 31:28.14 for 27th.

Another highlight on the day was the 1500 as sophomore Nick Wade set a personal best in the event for the second straight week, placing second overall in 3:49.12 and senior Matt De Silva also hit the IC4A qualifying time with a personal best 3:40.39 for fourth. Sophomore Will McFall was sixth in his heat with a run of 3:58.26 while freshman Eric Bice was 13th in his heat with a run of 4:03.30.

In the 5000, senior Adrien Dannemiller set a PR and qualified for the IC4As with a time of 14:17.07 while sophomore Gabe Heck was 28th in the fast section in 15:01.07. In a previous heat, freshman David Forward placed seventh with a time of 14:54.74.

Earlier in the day, junior Chandler Kemp had a nice run in the 3000 steeplechase, crossing the line in ninth in a new personal best of 9:22.4.

In the long jump, freshman Steven Bell placed third with a leap of 23-2 3/4 while junior Chase Aaronson was fifth at 22-7 3/4. Freshman Hercules Stancil was seventh at 22-3 1/2 and senior Enbani Moore placed 10th with a jump of 21-6.

Next up for Cornell is the Cornell Outdoor Upstate Challenge on Saturday, April 23rd at the Robert J. Kane Sports Complex. The meet is a scored competition featuring Division I upstate opponents Binghamton, Buffalo, Colgate and Syracuse. The Big Red will then compete at the Penn Relays from April 28-30, hosts the Big Red Outdoor Invitational on Sunday, May 1, which then leads to the Outdoor Heps, to be held at Yale on May 7-8.
