Spector Breaks School Record In 5000 Meter Run

College Park, MD – Junior Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood) broke Wagner's 27-year old record in the 5000 meter run at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Previously set back in 1984, the prior record of 15:02.6 was shattered as the Empire State native crossed the finish line with a time 14:57.40 in second place.

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY / Commack), Derek Schultz (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional), Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston) and Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) finished in third place with a season-best time of 3:26.26. Rookie Abdillahi also registered a personal-best in the 800 meter with a time of 1:57.69 and a 10th-place finish. Macdonald followed close behind for an eleventh place finish in 1:57.94

Junior Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) finished ninth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:40.14.

In the field, John Garrish set a personal-best in the shot put with a toss of 13.23 meters and a seventh place finish. Garrish also finished in the top ten with two sixth place finishes in the javelin and hammer throw events with measurements of 39.71 meters and 39.63 meters respectively.

Wagner returns to action on Wednesday, April 13 when they will host the Wagner Quad at Wagner College Stadium.
