Staten Island, NY – The Wagner Men's Track & Field team had a strong showing at the Wagner Invitational held Saturday afternoon, headlined by top finishes from
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) and
Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea).
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) captured one of two Wagner first place finishes in the 1500 meter run as the junior Seahawk clocked in at 4:03.61. Following close behind Iannacone, sophomore
Matt Driscoll (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston) clinched second place with a time of 4:04.20.
Rookie
Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) set a season-best mark of 1:55.33 in the 800 meter run as the Staten Island native finished with top honors in the event.
A second season-best mark was set during the day's events as the 4x400 meter relay consisting of four-some
Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston),
Michael Baio (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea),
Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY / Commack) and
Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) clocked in at 3:29.96 in third place.
The 4x800 meter relay of
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood),
Matt Driscoll (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston),
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) and
Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) dominated all competitors, clocking in a full 14 seconds ahead of the pack in 8:14.72.
Sophomore hurdler
Alan Kopeloff (Staten Island, NY / Monsignor Farrell) set a personal-best time of 16.47 in the 110 meter hurdles while junior
Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY / Commack) recorded his personal-best in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.19.
In the field, thrower
John Garrish finished in third place in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 40.70 meters.
Wagner is back in action on April 9 at the University of Maryland.
