FULLERTON, Calif. -- After a productive week of training in Southern California, the Cornell men's track team capped the annual spring trip with a competitive showing at the Cal State Fullterton “Titan Twilight,” producing six event wins and seven IC4A qualifiers.  But one of the big highlights of the day actually came up North at the Stanford Invitational as senior Nate Edelman had an 11 second personal best in the 10,000 meters to move to #4 all time at Cornell (passing Olympians Pete Pfitzinger and Jon Anderson on the all-time list) with a time of 29:20.31, which was good for 16th place in the very competitive field.

Down in Fullerton, the Big Red was led on the track by a very strong showing in the 800. Sophomore Nick Wade set the pace, running 1:50.81 to win the 800, leading wire-to-wire en route to his second straight week under the IC4A mark.  Freshman John Schilkowski was second in 1:52.35, classmate Will Weinlandt was third in 1:53.00 while senior co-captain was fourth in 1:54.00.  Junior Chase Aaronson also placed first, winning the 100 in 10.71 while sophomore Jedidiah Adarquah-Yiadom was third at 10.83; both were under the IC4A standard.  The 4X100 also impressed, placing first in 41.22, easily an IC4A qualifier.

Also faring well on the track was junior Dan Hagberg, who was third in the 110 hurdles at 14.99 and then came back to get fifth in the 400 hurdles at 57.36.  Senior Cody Boyd was third in the 400 at 48.99 and was followed by junior Dan Thomas, who placed sixth in 50.02 and senior co-captain Chris Tait, who was eighth in 50.29.  Boyd then doubled back to get third in 200 at 21.98 with sophomore Bruno Hortelano-Roig was fourth at 22.06.

A pair of juniors led the way with IC4A qualifiers and event wins in the field events.  Chris Arlinghaus cleared 6-9 3/4 to win the high jump and Bob Belden was a double winner, reaching 53-3 in the shot put and 159-3 in the discus.  Also in the high jump, freshman Dan Scott cleared 6-4 for fourth and classmate Hercules Stancil was fifth at 6-5.  Sophomore Bob Fiedler continued to have a good week, placing second in the hammer with an IC4A-qualifying 174-4.  Also competing well was junior Josh Cusick in the long jump (4th, 22-1 3/4), Scott in the triple jump (3rd, 46-7 1/2), junior Nick Huber in the pole vault (4th, 14-7 1/4) and senior Alex Holcombe in the discus (4th, 143-4).
