Wagner Women Start Outdoor Season Strong With Nine Top Finishes

Pomona, NJ – The women's track and field team kicked-off the outdoor season with an impressive performance at the Richard Stockton Invitational this past weekend. The Seahawks came away with a total of nine first place finishes and twenty top-five finishes.

Sheena Taylor captured top honors in both the hammer throw and shot put events with measurements of 46.62 meters and 12.74 meters respectively. Also finishing within the top five in the hammer throw was Samantha Schueschner with a toss of 42.92 meters, good for fourth place.

Tiffany Dawson clinched a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.65 meters as Kaitlin Eppinger and Mishelle McNamara finished second (1.53 m) and fourth (1.43 m) respectively in the high jump. The Seahawks were able to come out on top in the pole vault event as senior Mishelle McNamara cleared the bar at 3.20 meters.

On the track, both Wagner's 4x100 meter relay team and the 4x400 meter relay team clinched top spots as sophomore Kelly Dennis finished ahead of the pack in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 12:30.39.

In the 100 meter and 400 meter hurdles, Wagner was able to place in the top three in both events. Morgan Kaisershot captured top honors in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.25 and finished third in the 100 meter hurdles (16.79) as Tiffany Dawson finished in 15.48 for second place in the event.

The Seahawks continued to capture top-spots as Wagner swept the top three in the 1500 meter. Freshman Cameo Kirk earned top honors as she finished in a time of 5:03.46. Following close behind for second was Jessica Balling who crossed the finish line in 5:08.27. Samantha Lauro finished behind the senior Seahawk in third with a time of 5:11.62.

In the 3000 meter Wagner took first and third with rookie Alexis Bivona on top with a time of 10:38.51 followed by Taylor Fredrickson in third with a time of 10:52.00.

Rounding out the top finishes for the Seahawks was Becca Valente who captured second place honors in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.02.

Wagner returns to action on March 25th at the Spider Relays in Richmond, VA.
